  1. While I love the idea of cake flowers, because they look great, I would be very wary of putting any flowers on a cake unless you know their provenance. Most flowers have a lot of chemical stuff on them, especially orchids and roses, and even organic flowers have a lot of gunk on them that you may not want to eat like fish fertilizer or neem or soap. Around the base is good, but actually on the cake is not such a good idea.
